This gathering began as an invitation to look more closely. Photography enthusiasts, fellow travelers, and lovers of Italian culture filled the room, creating an atmosphere of curiosity and thoughtful conversation. The focus was not only on the images, but on the journey behind them.
George, a photographer based in Millis, shared his creative path, shaped by more than forty years of photographing local landscapes in places like Medfield and Natick.
His work revealed how much beauty exists close to home, often just off the road, waiting to be noticed. The conversation unfolded naturally as guests asked questions and connected through shared curiosity.
A turning point in George’s work came during a photography workshop in Abruzzo in May of 2024. Over seven days, he photographed places such as Rocca Calascio and Pietracamela, beneath Gran Sasso and Corno Grande. Guided by Matt Bishop, Paul Thomson, and Luigi Nespecca, the lessons from that experience continue to shape how he now sees and photographs his local surroundings.
I’m deeply grateful to everyone who attended, especially those who traveled from afar, and to Jeena, and her vinyl spinning husband, aka, djproudlarry for helping bring the evening together. Creating space for shared creativity like this is always a privilege.
What I Took With Me
This evening reminded me that learning doesn’t always require traveling a distance; sometimes it grows when we bridge the gap by learning to see the world through someone else’s lens.
