Photo Exhibit with George Komarnicki

George is an amateur photographer who resides in Millis, MA. While he has been

taking pictures for over 40 years, it has been an off-and-on process, which became

much more focused a couple of years ago.

The majority of his images are taken locally, seeking landscape and smaller scenes on

hikes and those seen just off the road. Most people don’t realize what can be found in

Millis, Medfield, Natick, etc.

His passion for photography got a kickstart when he decided to attend his first

photography workshop in Abruzzo, Italy in May of 2024. Abruzzo is an Italian region

east of Rome with many less recognized locations. The trip included a stop in

Calascio, the home of Rocca Calascio, a castle above the mountainside town that was

used in numerous movies. Another small mountainside location was Pietracamela,

found below Grand Sasso and Corno Grande, the highest points in the Apennine

Mountains.

The images you see here were taken on that seven-day trip under the guidance of Matt

Bishop, Paul Thomson, and Luigi Nespecca. The lessons learned on this trip continue

to resonate in George’s images taken locally.
